2396 Level 4 Design & Verification
The C&G 2396-01 demonstrates the specialist knowledge and skills you need, including, designing and installing electrical systems, appropriate legislation and verifying installations. Assessment will be through an assignment and a written exam
Experience in electrical installation contracting (Commercial / Industrial). City & Guilds 2382-22 IET BS 7671 Requirements for Electrical Installations.
Although not a pre-requisite, it is advisable that candidates hold the following recognised qualifications
- City & Guilds 2391-10 Inspection, Testing & Verification of Electrical Installations
- City & Guilds 2382-18 (Amendment 1) Requirements for Electrical Installations
This qualification comprises one mandatory unit which involves: Installation Design, Design procedures and calculations in accordance with BS 7671: current edition
4 Tuition days are arranged in preparation for the written exam
4 Tutorial days provided for successful completion of the major project/assignment
All Electrol training programmes can be carried out at the CEME Centre based in Rainham or on the clients premises anywhere in the UK or overseas (subject to minimum numbers of candidates).
Exams Dates are set by City & Guilds for 2020 they are as follows:
Thursday 11th June 2020 at 18.30
Thursday 3rd December 202 at 18.30
On successful completion of the written exam and major project the candidate will receive the:
City & Guilds 2396-10 Certificate of Electrical Installations Design Erection and Verification of Electrical Installations Level 4 certificate

Assessment Information
C&G 2396 Unit 402:
This is the written exam, the dates and questions are set and marked by City & Guilds, the exam is available 3 times a year. The format of the exam is as follows:
- Understand the electrical installation design, construction and commissioning process
- Understand BS 7671 requirements relating to electrical installation design
Units 401 & 402:
Both units assume candidates already have an extensive knowledge of electrical installation experience and are qualified electricians. Candidates will be expected to possess the fundamental skills of design, inspection, testing and the application of the current edition of the regulations.
JIB registered electricians will be able to apply for technician status with this qualification (if all other criteria are met).
